So, this will have spoilers, but I just saw that DC will be killing off Damien Wayne, or Robin, in the issue of Batman Incorporated that is coming out this Wednesday. I was just wondering, what do my fellow comic fans think of this move by DC? Personally, I think if they were going to kill off Robin, it would have been better to do it during the Death of the Family storyline and have Joker do it. Then he could claim to have killed two Robins. But I am also intrigued, as I have just recently started back to reading Batman, I'm more of a Marvel guy myself. But I am intrigued to see where this goes. When Jason was killed, Batman took a darker tone until Tim showed up. So, how then will Bruce react to another Robin being killed, adding to the fact that it is his son. Will he become more vengeful, and straddle the line of morality tighter? How will he come to grips? What do the comic fans out there think?

While it does seem to me like the "Death of the Family" storyline would have been a more fitting place to kill him off, I'm betting DC thinks that would be a little too familiar. And as far as what it means to kill him off in continuity, well, you yourself pretty much answered why it's no big deal. They can kill off all the Robins they want, since they just keep introducing new ones. Personally I think DC is pushing some of these big events a little too soon. They just recently rebooted everything, so they need a little more time to build up to big events in the books. That said, after talking to some of the retailers in town, it appears DC books are cooling off a lot. Maybe these big events are their way of trying to stoke the fires... only it's apparently not working.
