Well this is sad and truly shocking news. Actor Heath Ledger, soon to be seen as The Joker in THE DARK KNIGHT and well-known for his role in BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN, was found dead today in his New York apartment. According to CNN.com:Actor Heath Ledger was found dead Tuesday of a possible drug overdose in a Lower Manhattan apartment, the New York Police Department said. The Academy Award nominated actor was 28. "Pills were found in the vicinity of the bed," police spokesman Paul Browne told CNN. "This is being looked at as a possible overdose, but that is not confirmed yet." Ledger was unresponsive when he was found by a housekeeper who had gone to wake him for an appointment with a masseuse in the Soho apartment, Browne said. He was declared dead at about 3:30 p.m., Browne said. The New York Fire Department received a call at 2:27 today responding to a "cardiac arrest call" in New York. They found an unresponsive male dead at the scene. --------- Heath was nominated for an Oscar for BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN. I hate hearing this. I loved him in A KNIGHT'S TALE and THE PATRIOT. Ledger was truly a talented actor, and he will be missed. Sincerely,

Yeah, I second that.
I wonder how I'll process watching THE DARK KNIGHT now. Would it have been different if we were alive? Not that that matters much. I'm sure he did a bang up job on it. Cannot wait to see it.
Does anyone know if that was the last film he completed work on, or was there something else in teh can that he has been involved in?

It's a damn shame.
I really thought that the Dark Knight was going cement him as a truly great actor. It seems to me that the film will no doubt be good butr have that "Crow/Brandon Lee" vibe, letting the world know what it is they'll be missing forever and what could have been.
