According to Variety, the writer has been hired by Paramount to write the film adaptation of the Midway Games videogame franchise, Area 51. The game was released in 2005, and its storyline revolves around (According to the trade) “a hazardous materials specialist (Ethan Cole) who is called in to investigate a viral outbreak that could be extra-terrestrial in nature.”
Obviously, as fans of Morrison’s work well know, the project appears to be up his alley, given his work on a variety of projects, such as The Invisibles and The Filth. This is Morrison’s most recent screenplay deal after adapting his and Frank Quitely’s WE3 for New Line.

Christine Peters will produce through her Par-based CFP Prods. with Penn Station's Dean Georgaris and Michael Aguilar, along with Stan Winston.
Blacksite: Area 51 a sequel to the original game, is slated for release this summer.
