Hey Mark. I just listened to your last podcast (wich everybody needs to go download right now!) and I just needed to say one thing. If Micheal Keaton and Tobey and all those guys walk away from a franchise because it's getting lame. Than good. The Batman movies didn't get worse because Micheal Keaton walked, it got bad because the content got worse. I'm glad I didn't see a bad Batman movie with Keaton, and I hope I won't see a bad Spidey with Maguire. Taking a role because the movie is good, because the role is good, is always going to be a good reason and motivation. Not the money. My two cents. p.s.: Change that phone already!

And admittedly, sometimes you just get sick of the job, no matter how much you're gettin' paid.
(I always thought Topher Grace would make a better Peter Parker. Irony hurts my head.)

I understand that logic completely, but at the same time, where is Keaton now? He's still a great actor, but no one uses him. That's why I say TAKE THE MONEY while you can. You can bounce back from crappy movies. You think Tobey is gonna get a lot of work after quitting Spidey? Certainly not for the same pay!
Best,

Bah, I'm fine with Tobey disappearing. Kirsten Dunst can follow him.
I've been trying to think of someone who left a franchise and still ended up making a name for themselves. My first thought was Harrison Ford with Han Solo, but that wasn't really him leaving. Maybe Sean Connery with James Bond? I don't know if he left or if they got rid of him.
But yeah, Keaton made a bad call leaving the Batman movies. Would have been interesting seeing Joel Schumacher direct him, 'specially with the fourth movie. Heh.

It seems like there's a "franchise curse" or something.
Every huge franchise's actors never really get too far outside of the franchise.
Harrison Ford would have been trapped if it wasn't for Indiana Jones.
Sean Connery did good.
Who else who else who else.....uhhh....Orlando....Bloom...?
Ummm....er...
and
aaaaaaannnnddd
uh......
yeah.

Patrick Stewart and William Shatner are still getting work. Ian McKellen... Hm...

Patrick Stewart's only other real work besides Star Trek was X-Men. And look how that ended.
William Shatner is a joke now. He cashes in on himself joking about himself.
Ian McKellan has been getting steady work. But he'll probably croke within a few years or so.

I understant what you mean Mark. Clooney bounced back from Batman and Robin.
But I'm still glad Micheal didn't play a bad Batman thought.
