First off, sorry but there will be no Geek VS Nerd podcast this week.
I will on the other hand be doing an episode on Monday!
So to supplement for tonight, I decided to post my comics read pile this week. I usually pick up my books every two weeks so 1 or 2 of the titles may be a week old.
Avengers: The Initiative
This title I had absolutely no interest in. I didn't even have it on my pull list but my comic guy felt that I would. I even put it at the bottom of the pile for me to read last. Let's face it, Civil War put a really bad taste in everybody's mouth. So I was really hesitant to pick up anything tied so closely to that..."event".
Imagine my suprise when this issue became my favorite title to read. I read it twice, no, three times in one day!
I'm a sucker for 90's characters. This book had Vance Astro, Rage, War Machine, hell SLAPSTICK, baby! AWESOME.
The book's art is fantastic and done by Runaways/Young Avengers artist Stefano Caselli and Dan Slott continues to write the best stuff Marvel has to offer.
This issue is definately the JESUS PICK O THE WEEK!
QUICK HITS
JLA #7
Written by Brad Meltzer
Drawn by Ed Benes
One of the two titles I pick up from DC. Ed Benes art shines on this title but the last section of the book I felt was written a little off. Still a very solid book. Jesus Rating of +++ out of 5 crosses
Ant Man #7
Written by Robert Kirkman
Drawn by Corey Walker
The creators of Invincible reunite! This issue delivers the best superhero punch ever. EVER! I was still hoping for a little more Ant Man/Mighty Avengers interaction besides 5 pages. Still good fun. Corey Walker should draw more for Marvel. ++++ out of 5 crosses
