From darkhorizons.com www.darkhorizons.com/news07/070928l.phpIGN Movies has been informed by a reliable source that Sony Pictures is developing a remake of The Karate Kid that will be produced by Will Smith's Overbook Entertainment and Jerry Weintraub.
Will's 9-year-old son Jaden Christopher Syre Smith ("The Pursuit of Happyness") is apparently attached to star in the remake.
This new Karate Kid is currently out to writers. Weintraub also produced the 1984 film, starring Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita, and its three sequels.I get sent a lot of wierd links and videos and "news" but this...this took the cake. I actually had to blink twice at it. Never ever NEVER EVER in my entire LIFE did I expect to read "Will Smith" alongside "Remake of Karate Kid". W-O-W.

Yeah, the original KARATE KID is greatness. But remake? REMAKE? Why??? I'd rather see a big screen adaptation of the DC Comics "Karate Kid" character before I see what you're talking about.
Ugh.

SWEEP THE LEG, JOHNNY!!
Yeah. I know Mark.
There are some movies that have come out really well as a remake and can fit ok with it but nothing about Karate Kid screams remake to me.
