Sorry for lack of updates. After a fit of losing my internet temporarily and having to deal with a "crisis" at my 9 to 5, it's been killer.
To hold you all over, here's a QUICK review of Star Trek.
Star Trek was something that I knew would be fun but wasn't really all that excited for. I'm not a big Trekkie by any means but I did enjoy TNG and DS9. I always thought DS9 was the best written show and original cast's movies were always the better flicks. Even the crappy one with "God" in it.
For me, the new Trek was a breath of fresh air that the franchise needed. I would have preferred a television show, though. Star Trek has always been about the "continuing mission" every week. So if I have to wait 2-4 years for more Trek, I'm gonna be pissed. It's a lot of fun, has great acting, great special effects, and one of the better stories of the franchise.
However there is one big problem with it that I have.
MINOR SPOILER...KINDA
I didn't like Spock playing such a big role in the story of this new Trek and tying it into the old Trek. If they wanted to just start Star Trek ALL over from scratch and forget everything, they should have just done that. Spock coming back and telling Kirk about this "new timeline" and whatnot makes it seem that they left themselves a backdoor in case this franchise fails and things can ultimately return to the old normal Star Trek.
All in all I enjoyed Star Trek. I got what I wanted out of it.
I will say that I enjoyed Wolverine more.
That's right I said it.
